Day 14: Yield to God’s Leading
“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.” ISAIAH 30:21 NKJV
Sometimes, we find ourselves at a crossroads. It might be related to a potential job, relationship, dream, or difficulty, and we don’t know where to turn or how to move forward.
Saul, before he became the Apostle Paul, was headed in the wrong direction and was unaware of his spiritual purpose. Instead of encouraging Christians, he persecuted them and hunted them down.
As he journeyed, he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.” (Acts 9:3-5 NKJV)
The light of Jesus was so bright that Saul couldn’t see. So, he fasted for three days, eating and drinking nothing, until God sent Ananias to pray for him.
Now, we might not be traveling on a dirt road or persecuting believers like Saul, but God’s desire to guide us and give us divine direction is just as great as his desire to guide Saul, who we now know as the Apostle Paul.
After his experience with Jesus and subsequent fast, Paul was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write nearly a third of the New Testament. He went to Jews and Gentiles, sharing the gospel, building up the church, and experiencing God’s power miraculously.
God wants to do the same in our lives. Of course, our story differs from Paul’s, but that doesn’t change the truth that God wants to give us wisdom, vision, and guidance for our future.
On your 14th day of fasting, remember:
● As you fast, ask God to give you divine direction.
● Even if you were on the wrong path, God can cause you to change direction onto the right path as you fast.
● God desires to give you wisdom, vision, and guidance for your future.
Prayer Focus:
Pray and ask God for divine direction as you fast. Ask God to unveil your spiritual purpose.
Reflection Question: Have you yielded to God’s leading and obtained divine direction?
