Day 3: A New Place
“Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.” JOEL 2:12 NKJV
When we slow down, we are often able to see new things. Our pace affects our vision of a place. For example, we notice different details when we’re walking on a beach than when we’re flying over one in an airplane. On the ground, we are able to see kids searching for seashells, people playing volleyball, and waves crashing onto the shore. Hardly any of this is visible from the sky.
While fasting, God wants to take us to new places to see what we might normally miss. That doesn’t mean we have to travel or visit the nearest beach. It simply means that instead of binge watching our favorite shows, we go into the living room to read our Bible. Instead of scrolling on our phones, we visit a coffee shop to journal and meditate on scripture.
We don’t have to go somewhere grand and extravagant. We just have to let God lead us to the places where He has our undivided attention.
On your third day of fasting, remember:
● God wants to take you to new places to see things differently.
● You don’t have to go somewhere extravagant for God to show up powerfully in your life. Small changes in your destination throughout the day can make a difference.
● When entering a new place, God wants your undivided attention to ensure you notice everything He wants you to see.
Prayer Focus:
Thank God for slowing you down so that you can start noticing new things. Ask God to lead you to a place where He can open your eyes to what He wants you to see.
Reflection Question: Where can you go today to give God your undivided attention?
