Day 2: A New Pace
“Now, therefore,” says the LORD, “Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” DANIEL 9:3 NKJV
Fasting creates a change of pace in times when our life is on autopilot. Daniel used fasting times to interrupt life's normalcy and intentionally turn his face toward God. Instead of hurrying from meal to meal, Daniel seized the time to commune with God. Communing with God means giving God our full attention. Praying, fasting, and reading scripture are ways to give God our attention.
Although we may find ourselves in the same places, jobs, and homes, fasting provides a time when our pace can change. Changing our pace and turning our face to God will give God room to do what He wants: release freedom, hope, grace, and power in every aspect of our lives.
On your second day of fasting, remember:
● Do things differently. Instead of eating, pray. Spend time in the word of God.
● If things feel different, that's okay. You are changing the pace of life for a time to seek God more intentionally.
● Remember to make requests of God. He hears you when you pray.
Prayer Focus:
Ask God to help you change your life pace and seek His face more. Thank God for this time of fasting.
Reflection Question: What changes do you need to make to commune with God more during this fast?
