Day 5: Seeking God Through Change
“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” JEREMIAH 29:13 NKJV
Often we will find our lives heading in one direction. Then, after an encounter with God, we turn and head in a completely different direction. In the Bible, the temple of God was strategically designed so that you could not leave God’s presence the same way you came in. As we continually seek God’s presence, we will be transformed little by little.
It’s kind of like having a great coach. If we don’t spend time with the coach or implement his coaching, we will not grow or change, no matter how good the coach is. But when we listen to the coach and implement the changes he gives, the way we play the game will change and we will see the results.
Fasting is a time where we slow down, spend time with God, listen to His Word, and are transformed in His presence. Many will report significant life changes after a time of fasting. This is often a result of extra time with God. During time with God, our Heavenly Coach will speak to us, will change things, will direct us in greater ways, because we are taking extra time apart to spend more time with Him.
On your fifth day of fasting, remember:
● God-change is always good.
● Extra time with God means opening the doors of your life further to God. You give Him more room to do what He wants to do in your life.
● Your reward for seeking God is often more of God. He wants to fill your life with His presence.
Prayer Focus:
Tell God that during this time of fasting, you are open to Him. Ask Him if there is anything in your life that He wants to change. He knows you better than you know yourself. Ask God to direct you, not according to your wants and desires, but according to His will for you.
Reflection Question: What is God asking you to change in your life?
